3 Steps to Spring Cleaning for Your Real Estate Business

Welcome Spring 2017!

There’s a reason that the idea of “spring cleaning” is such an enduring concept. There’s something about opening up the windows, clearing out old, unused items, and giving your home a thorough scrubbing that just brings to mind renewal.

Doing a spring cleaning for your business can be just as beneficial. Give these 3 tips a try this month, and you may be surprised by just how re-invigorated you feel afterward:

  1. Purge your papers

We might be living in a digital age, but the real estate industry can still sometimes drown people in paper. This month, set aside 20 minutes a day to deal with the overflow: organize the stacks on your desk, toss out outdated marketing materials, and sift through your old files to see what you really need to keep. And if you really want to get ambitious, try to set up a system to deal with paper before it starts piling up. The simpler the system, the more likely you are to stick with it.

  1. Refresh your branding

Time to take stock of your marketing materials. Does your real estate business card really still represent you? Or does it have an out-of-date picture, or a design that’s dated and unappealing? When you send out your real estate farming postcards, do you get a response? Are all your graphics attention-grabbing and your messages clear and concise? If you don’t have satisfactory answers to most of these questions, your existing marketing materials might not be doing you a lot of good.

  1. Clear out the cobwebs

Don’t forget about doing a digital deep clean! Between cloud storage and email providers with nearly unlimited space for your inbox, it’s easy to let the digital detritus pile up. Going through and organizing your files can make it far easier for you to find what you need, when you need it. And clearing out your inbox is a good way to remind yourself of past clients and prospects you might want to reconnect with.
