Let us offer a few pointers if you are new to real estate business card design. Your business cards should:
- Be printed on a heavy card stock: This is our standard at BestPrintBuy.com. We don’t use cheap stock. Our card stock is heavy, luxury quality, 16 point stock to make you and your business cards look good.
- Utilize a standard font style: These days, most cards are “captured” by a scanner on a computer or on a smartphone. Using a too-fancy font may interfere with the ability of the OCR to interpret your information and add it to your client’s contact list. Also use standard labels for the information like: Office, Cell, Home, etc.
- Never be overly crowded: Not only does crowding look “cramped” and unprofessional, it makes your information harder to read and requires your potential client to make too many decisions about how to contact you. Keep it simple and give them your preferred venues of contact, not every possible option. White space (areas that are free from text printing) are a good thing on a business card.
- Use a photo: If you decide to add a photo of yourself to your business card, make sure it’s a good professional shot. You should also ensure that it’s not been “photo shopped” until it no longer resembles you, nor should it be ten years old, or display a different hair color than you currently wear. The idea is that you are branding your face and your look with your business. If you don’t look like the photo, don’t use it on your business card.
- Use a maximum of two font colors: More colors make your card look indecisive and juvenile. Keep the number of colors used in the text to a minimum.
- Offer a benefit: Your business card should offer some reason the person holding it should want to hold on to it. It should say something about what you do FOR THEM that is compelling.
- Use a tagline: But only if it is memorable, differentiates you from other real estate agents and is short. If your tagline is too long and meandering, carries a lukewarm message, and does nothing to make you stand out… write a better tagline or leave it off your business card.
A good real estate business card will tell people who you are, what you do, how to contact you and should offer them a desirable benefit (link to blog on including a benefit on your business card), but most importantly it will differentiate you from the rest of the local real estate agents by making you and your services desirable and memorable.
An effective real estate business card ensures that potential clients keep your card and throw away the business cards of the competition. Design yours today on BestPrintBuy.com!
